Clary

Clarissa “Clary” Adele Fray is the 16-year-old Shadowhunter daughter of Jocelyn, sister of Sebastian, best friend of Simon, and girlfriend of Jace. Clary begins the novel by trying to help Jace relax in order to better control the Heavenly Fire inside him. When word comes that Sebastian has demanded the Council hand over Clary and Jace or face destruction, Clary and Jace decide to confront Sebastian themselves by going to Edom. There, Clary pretends to side with Sebastian in order to stab and kill him. Clary is horrified soon after when Simon must give up his immortality and memories of his friendship and the magical world in order for Asmodeus to provide a pathway back to the living. Months later, Clary helps to revive Simon’s memories as much as possible, so that he may again join them.
