Heosphoros

Heosphoros is the name of the sword that Clary wields during the novel, ultimately using it to fatally stab Sebastian. Heosphoros is the shorter of a set of two swords made of gold, black gold, and adamas commissioned by Valentine Morganstern from Wayland the Smith years before. Heosphoros means “Dawn Bringer”, and the sword’s unearthly aspects due to the presence of adamas means that the sword is deadly to Sebastian. Sebastian himself wields the longer of the two swords, “Phaesphoros”, meaning “Light Bringer”, but this is useless after Sebastian is stabbed.

Adamas is an incredibly rare, silvery metal ore that is mined from Heaven. Weapons crafted of adamas, such as Heosphoros and seraph blades.
