Summary

Chapter 6, Brother Lead and Sister Steel – Emma and the Blackthorn kids now live in the well-furnished attic of the Penhallows’ house. Helen appears to tell them that Sebastian’s attack on the London Institute was unsuccessful, and that Uncle Arthur Blackthorn is alright. This makes the Blackthorn kids, now known as the “War Orphans”, feel better. Emma and Julian hope Sebastian is captured and executed slowly in public in Angel Square. Meanwhile, Simon wakes up to find Raphael inside his cage. Raphael says he and Simon are on the same side against Maureen, who is insane and follows no laws. Raphael has been ordered to attend the Council, and wants to take Simon with him as proof the Council can trust him. The Council can then be told about Maureen, at which time official action...
