Summary

Chapter 22, The Ashes of Our Fathers – Alicante comes under attack from the forces of Sebastian, including Endarkened and the faeries. The Shadowhunter children are sent to the Accords Hall, but Emma wants to fight. Julian begs her to come to safety, and she reluctantly agrees. She helps Julian to bring the Blackthorn children along through the city. Emma must fight evil faeries as they go, using a knife to cut one down. Brother Zachariah arrives, and takes down Endarkened and faeries in quick bursts of light. Suddenly, Gwyn and the wild faeries arrive. They are not deterred by salt and grave dirt.
