Summary

In Chapter 39, Scarlett finds a box with the Caraval symbol on Tella's vanity. It is a letter from Tella to Legend, and Scarlett realizes Tella had made some sort of deal with Legend. She demands that Jo take her to Legend.

In Chapter 40, Legend says he was not the person who wanted Scarlett to find that letter, but he has other letters for her. Scarlett suddenly realizes this is not actually Legend, and he identifies himself as a player named Caspar. Scarlett realizes that people who believe Legend always has a different face in the game are seeing actors pretending to be Legend. Scarlett reads the six additional letters between Tella and Legend.
