Summary

Chapter 28: "Abandon All Hope" opens as Charlie finds a steel box in the fake chimney on her roof. She sneaks into the apartment, only to find Adam’s body brutally mutilated with the word RED written in blood all over the walls. When the police arrive, Charlie is baffled when one asks if she killed Adam and lies about knowing what the word means. They cuff her and take her to the station where Detective Juarez asks about her connection with Adam. Charlie claims she and Adam were having an affair but he beat her when she told Doreen. The questions continue, but Charlie refuses to answer until they let her go. Outside, a furious Doreen blames Charlie for Adam’s death.
