Chapters 3 and 4 Summary

In Chapter 3, Hassan proposes to Colin's parents that he and Colin take a road trip for the summer. After getting permission from Colin's parents to take the trip, the boys drive to Hassan's house to convince his parents to allow him to go with Colin. Hassan's parents consent after some convincing from Colin and Hassan. The boys hit the open road, destination unknown. Colin remembers when he was 25-months-old, he started reading on his own. When his parents enrolled him in pre-school, the school said they were not equipped for geniuses so his parents sent Colin to see a psychologist at the University of Chicago. Colin starts school a year ahead of other kids his age. As Colin goes through his first few years of school, he excels in his studies but not socially with the other children.
