Summary

Chapter 24

Miss Mallory is still saddened by the loss of Cady, the last orphan who had been in the orphanage. She hears a sudden disturbance and goes to investigate, discovering Will and his suitcase.

Chapter 25

Mrs. Asher and Marigold are driving through the city, trying to find any sign of Will. Marigold is upset at herself, both for accidentally mailing Will, as well as having no Talent. Mrs. Asher tries to assure her that being without a Talent isn’t bad, and it took years for her own Talent to develop.

This chapter is the first time the reader gets to see the character of Miss Mallory after the adoption. Miss Mallory is still upset that Cady is gone from her life. Given how mysterious Toby has been throughout the book, it’s unclear whether or not he’s a trustworthy...
