Summary

Chapter 2

This chapter opens with a new character, simply called, The Owner, putting up a sign in his lost luggage emporium, advertising that he has rooms for rent. The Owner is having money troubles, which is why he is resorting to renting out his space. The Owner possesses the unique ability to levitate. While dealing with a customer, he palms an object in his jacket that makes his hands icy cold. He shakes hands with the customer, who becomes sick. The chapter ends with the reveal that in a week all of his rooms are going to be filled, and all of the inhabitants are going to lose what they value the most.

This chapter introduces another character, the 10-year-old Marigold. Marigold has been spending all day trying to discover what her Talent is. She is a middle child, and middle children...
