Summary

Chapter 4

This short chapter introduces another new character named, V. V is an older woman who recently suffered from a stroke. She passed out in the woods and was discovered by the police. Because of her stroke, V is unable to communicate. V reveals that she lost her daughter, Caroline, and she feels helpless without her daughter or the ability to communicate.

Chapter 5

Zane is trying to read a book, but he finds his mind wandering. Zane had gotten in trouble earlier at school. The principal had called him worthless, and it was all that Zane could focus on. The chapter ends with Zane trying to think of a plan to intercept the letter that the principal has written, so his parents won't know that he has gotten in trouble.
