Part Two, Clues: Chapters 42-44 Summary

Chelgrin gets a phone call telling him where and when to meet a secret contact. Chelgrin takes a great deal of caution, aware that if he is recognized by someone he will have to reschedule this meeting. As a possible candidate for the Presidency, Chelgrin has a highly-recognizable face; however, no one notices him this night. Chelgrin is picked up by a driver whose name he does not know and is taken to another parking lot where he gets into a car with his contact. Chelgrin's contact, Anson Peterson, is a large, unpleasant man who is Chelgrin's only contact with his only child, Lisa. Peterson has been bringing Chelgrin written reports on Lisa every month for twelve years. However, this month the report is verbal due to the urgency of recent events.
