Part 7, Chapter 36 Summary

The kind Scot who rescued Claire from the wolves takes her to a cottage where she meets another Scot named MacRannoch. Claire explains the whole story to him, how she gains access to the prison, finds Jamie, what Randall plans to do to Jamie and how she is escorted out the door by Randall to confront the wolves. MacRannoch hears her out, then wonders out loud how he can possibly help her with a story like this. He isn't sure Sir Fletcher will believe him.

Moments later Murtagh is brought into the cottage by another Scot. Murtagh recognizes MacRannoch. They know each other from a gathering thirty years ago. Murtagh had killed a boar and was given the tusses (Claire realized that's where the bracelets had come from that were given to Jamie's mother). Claire reached for her pearls and tells...
