Part 4, Chapter 25 Summary

Claire and Geilie are scooped up and thrown into a hole in the ground. They are to be tried as witches at the next town trial. Claire is accidentally taken, because she is with Geilie. It is the cause of the Laoghaire girl. Geilie tells Claire that Laoghaire purchased the ill wish that was under Claire's pillow. Claire is appalled and tells Geilie that the girl was pregnant by Dougal. Geilie confesses that she is the one pregnant by Dougal, not Laoghaire. Claire is getting confused.

So, Laoghaire wants Claire out of the picture and tells her that Geilie needs her, Dougal has committed adultery with Geilie and doesn't know what to do now that she's pregnant, and Claire is just caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.
