They arrive at the next town. It has an inn; and Dougal has to pay a hefty fee for their concealment of Jamie and Claire. They eat dinner quietly. Jamie hardly recognizes Claire and the men do not even look at her. After dinner they go upstairs to bed. Jamie isn't finished with Claire, though she thinks he will just let her sleep.
