Part 3, Chapter 13 Summary

Dougal sees Claire's face as she comes down the stairs. He goes into the room with Randall, and Claire hears loud voices. Dougal comes down at once and pays the bill. They leave at once. They travel quickly by horseback, and then suddenly halt. Dougal takes Claire through the woods to a small pool of water. He puts some water in his hand, and Claire does too. She drinks some, and then washes her face with more. Dougal asks her how well she knows Randall, to which she says she met him once. He wonders if she knows it was Randall who made the marks on Jamie's back. She admits to knowing, stating that Jamie had shared a little of his past with her.
