Part 3, Chapter 12 Summary

As Claire and the men travel closer to Fort William, Claire can't help but wonder what the Garrison Commander will think of her. They come upon another inn at the next town. Claire sleeps in a tiny attic, while the men sleep downstairs together. Just as Claire is about to fall asleep she hears a noise outside of her door. She grabs for her candle and flint. She is frightened and stands by the door for a few minutes wondering what to do. She finally opens the door and steps out into the hall to see who it is. She trips over Jamie, who is lying on the floor outside her door. She accusingly asks what he is doing. He replies there are some men that arrived and are drinking heavily.
