Part One, Chapter 1 Summary

Cameron McDonald is the police chief of Wheelock, Massachusetts. Wheelock is a small town that is the transplanted home of the Clan McDonald from Carrymuir, Scotland. About the time America was being settled, England was invading Scotland. The chief of the Clan McDonald made a deal with the army of Bonnie Prince Charlie to fight with them if they would agree to allow his people to go home safely. The chief, Cameron McDonald, thought he would die in the battle. However, when he survived the failed battle and was sent to prison, Cameron smuggled his people out of Scotland in front of the invading English. It was then that the clan settled in Wheelock.
