Hidden Truths

The author uses the theme of hidden truths to demonstrate the importance of looking closely at things in life. Vic is characterized as a "quiet observer" (1) and tries very hard to be a "heart-thinker (14) like his dad. He knows firsthand that so many things in life are not what they seem. Vic has Moebius syndrome, so he knows all about being judged and defined by things that he cannot control.
