Chapters 18 - 20 Summary

Roland's mother was a strong, good-hearted woman, so Flagg was unable to bend her to his will. However, Roland's mother allowed Flagg to become one of her advisers, allowing him to build his status in the kingdom. Flagg thought he could control Roland better and did find himself moving faster toward his goal. His goal is to cause such a revolt against the monarchy that it would plunge Delain into darkness for thousands of years. Peter is a strong, intelligent young man, who stands firmly in Flagg's way. Flagg could see that Peter was not the type of person who would rely on him as an adviser and Flagg feels threatened by Peter's presence.
