Summary

Chapter 27

Alice finds out why her neighbor was mad at her. Alice was pushing for the area to be rezoned to have a large apartment building, while her neighbor was in opposition. Alice realizes she only took on the project because Gina was invested in it. She goes over to apologize to her neighbor, offering her homemade brownies. The chapter cuts over to Elisabeth. She’s still dealing with the test results. She is at work giving one of her speeches when she sees Alice in the crowd. Elisabeth nearly breaks down, but keeps pushing through. Alice asks why she didn’t go to Frannie’s talent show, but Elisabeth can’t tell her.

Alice is adjusting to her life as a mother. She’s exhausted by all the things that she has to do, but her memories are starting to slowly come...
