Summary

Chapter 1

The protagonist, Alice thinks she is lying in bed, fretting about all the rules she has to follow because she’s pregnant. Everything feels strange around her however, and she has a terrible headache, which she believes is just a symptom of her pregnancy. She eventually wakes to find herself in the gym by her friend and work colleague, Jane. Alice is surprised because she never goes to the gym. Jane fills her in and explains that she fell when they were working out and hurt her head. Paramedics arrive and question Alice. She says that she’s 29 and the year is 1998. Jane tells the paramedics that Alice is turning 40 soon, and it’s revealed that Alice, as a result of her injury, has forgotten the last 10 years of her life.
