Simon Snow

Simon is the hero in the previous book of this series, Carry On. However, he now compares himself to the fallout from a nuclear bomb. He no longer has magic powers, but he does have enormous wings and a tail, which he uses as an excuse to mainly remain in the apartment. Simon is clearly depressed and feels he has served his purpose and that he has no future. He is involved in a relationship with Baz, but he believes that Baz is on the verge of breaking up. Simon seeks to protect himself from the emotional pain he feels is inevitable by distancing himself from Baz. He has also distanced himself from his friend Penny in the process. Simon is bouncing back by the time he, Penny, and Baz arrive in America. He wants to continue the road trip across the country to California. He learns...
