Washington DC

Alex Cross calls Washington DC home. He grew up there and lives in the same neighborhood with his children and mother. Cross also works for the Washington DC Police Department. Washington DC serves as a home base for all of Cross's operations. When the investigation goes out of stale or he needs to regroup, he returns home to the care of his grandmother, Nana.

San Francisco

The murder that draws Cross into the investigation occurs in San Francisco. There, Cross meets Detective Hughes. Also, in San Francisco, Cross learns that Kyle Craig is the Mastermind. At the end of the novel, Cross admits to being in love, and one could claim that he left his heart in San Francisco.

Charlotte, North Carolina

Cross surmises that the vampire murders began, some years ago, in Charlotte, North Carolina. He later determines that the magicians committed the older murders...
