Alex Cross

Alex Cross, the protagonist of this novel, narrates much of the novel from the first person. In his role of detective and profiler, Cross stars in many such novels. Cross holds degrees in psychology and works as an investigator with the Washington DC Police Department. He lives with his three children and his grandmother in the same neighborhood he grew up in in Washington DC. On occasion, Cross consults for the FBI as a criminal profiler. He enjoys a great deal of success in both lines of work.

In this novel, Cross accepts an invitation to aid the FBI in investigating a string of vampire murders. Cross shows extreme dedication to his work.
