Chapter 99-101 Summary

For hours, Cross and Hughes sit in her apartment in the dark. They discuss Craig. Though Hughes says she never liked him, Cross laments that he did; he thought of Craig as a friend and colleague. After hours of sitting, they hear someone picking the lock on the terrace. Hughes assures Cross that they will win. Cross attacks the man, beating him until Hughes turns on a light and they realize the man is not Kyle Craig.

Still being cautious of the possibility of gunfire from outside, Cross and Hughes question the man. He identifies himself as FBI. When more agents arrive, they learn that Craig ordered the man to break in, because Cross and Hughes had been murdered. Cross comes forward with his suspicious about Craig. They receive the idea only somewhat skeptically.
