Part 5, Chapter 5 Summary

When Lestat and Gabrielle discuss Armand's story, Lestat is filled with a desire to reach out to Marius. Gabrielle believes that this is a waste of his time and that Marius does not exits. Their differences become evident as Gabrielle expresses her desire to be free and live in the jungles. Lestat, who always has believed himself to be free, wishes to seek Marius out. As Gabrielle retires into the earth for the day, Lestat goes out and carves a message to Marius in a stone.
