Chapter 9 Summary

When Daisy and Elsie return from her crossing guard job, Steve has breakfast waiting. Daisy announces that she plans to move back into her townhouse. Following this announcement, Elsie questions their plans for marriage. Daisy claims to have good reasons for not marrying Steve. Elsie questions her love for him, and Daisy brushes it off, citing that she wants marriage to be permanent and fears her relationship with Steve is not that kind of relationship. Steve promises to use the same nagging tactics to win Daisy that she used to land her job at the radio station. After a passionate kiss, Elsie and Daisy leave in Steve's black sports car for her job at the radio station. Daisy and Elsie return home that evening, and Steve informs them that no one has found Elsie's car. Steve offers to accompany Daisy the next day...
