Chapter 4 Summary

The morning following their argument about Daisy continuing her traffic reporting job, Daisy meets Steve in the radio station's garage. He admits to possessive, masculine feelings towards Daisy before pulling her close for a passionate kiss. Grudgingly, he sends her on her traffic route, but informs her that he hired a security guard company to accompany her. During her afternoon break at Belle Haven park, she is to chose her body guard, who will protect her from LeRoy, the drug dealer, and his thugs.

When Daisy returns that afternoon, Steve meets her in the parking garage. He explains that he wants to discuss the responsibilities of the job with the new guard. There, Steve and the reader meet Elsie Hawkins. Elsie assures Steve that she passed a security guard course while rehabilitating from hip replacement surgery in the nursing home. Then, she shows...
