Chapter 2 Summary

Steve parks the car at a good vantage point for watching traffic and prepares to leave Daisy on her own for the rest of the afternoon, after only two hours of training. He feels protective towards her already, and very attracted. When he questions her ability, she assures him that she will not give up and that she will learn the job. She enjoys Steve's presence and sadly watches him leave.

Later that evening, Daisy returns home and begins to prepare a simple dinner for herself and her fourteen-year-old brother, Kevin. Suddenly, Steve shows up. Kevin labels Steve as a lecher, but confesses that he hopes to be a lecher someday. Kevin also admires Steve's black, imported sports car.
