Richard Gansey III

Richard Gansey III, who is just called Gansey throughout the novel, is one of the main narrators. He is a popular student at Aglionby and son of the very rich and successful Gansey family. Gansey’s main goal is to track down Glendower and Cabeswater and it is clear that this is something he has invested in for many years. This is because he believes that Glendower is the one who saved him when he died on the ley line. Eventually, Gansey chooses to sacrifice himself to stop the demon by allowing Blue to kiss him, ending his life. However, Cabeswater gives itself up to bring Gansey back.

Gansey is close friends with all of the main characters, but his strongest relationship is with Blue who he calls Jane. It is clear that these two deeply love each other, but have kept their relationship a secret...
