Summary

Chapter Eight opens as Gansey fields texts from his friends and family about fundraisers. He turns his phone off to investigate a tree covered in black ooze that Aurora cannot explain. Blue says the tree is decaying and Gansey wishes he could physically support her as they are keeping their relationship a secret from Adam. Three figures with similarities to Blue approach, telling them to make way for the Raven King. Adam says they are his nightmare but they do not disappear until Gansey uses Blue’s psychic amplification to command the forest to send them away. Gansey hopes he can figure out why he has his power as Aurora says that the tree always finds her.
