Summary

In Chapter 40, Iris and Alice meet their friends in the AV club to play one of Lillian’s old tapes. They hear a woman saying that she saw Clifford drown, but it was not an accident. Then the tape breaks.

In Chapter 41, Raf researches Clifford’s drowning and discovers that there was no police report or autopsy, and that his brother, Euguene, signed the death certificate and pronounced that it had been an accidental drowning.

In Chapter 42, Alice and Iris drive to Hollywood to visit Eugene Kennedy, who is 101.

In Chapter 43, the girls are greeted by Theo Kennedy, Eugene’s grandson, who lets them in. Eugene has dementia, and he thinks that Alice visited him before. Iris steals a silver box.
