Summary

In Chapter 43: “Mila,” she wakes up to the sound of Nadiya’s voice. While Mila is clearly ill, she is forced to keep working and hiding the truth. Nadiya refuses to leave Mila’s side, even though Nadiya is becoming more emaciated by the day. Mila mourns Dasha’s betrayal, but Nadiya says they are both family and promises they are going to live for each other. Nadiya sings a song to help Mila sleep, but she is woken up by people holding her down before knocking her unconscious again.
