The Last Year is a historical fiction novel that is split between three main points-of-views: Matthew, who is struggling with loneliness during the Covid pandemic of 2020. Helen, an Ukranian immigrant who is trying to fit in at her American school, and Mika, the daughter of a passionate communist that must come to terms with the reality of the famine she is experiencing in 1933. This novel explores themes of personal truth, propaganda, and class wars.
