Summary

In Chapter 42, when Emma regains consciousness, Chet is standing over her holding the oar. He tells her that he cannot believe she had the nerve to come back to the camp. Chet explains that all of the things she had been experiencing while she was at the camp were his doing. He knew she was crazy and wanted to see how crazy she might get if she were prodded.

Chet continues that he wanted to torture her because she almost ruined his family’s lives. She hurt Theo so badly he tried to kill himself. She destroyed the reputations of all of them. Chet tells Emma that since she knows what he has done, he will have to kill her.
