Summary

Act Two: Scene One takes place in the kitchen the following morning. Big Charles wakes Isom up, telling him they need to get everything ready for the hot wing contest. He tells Isom that Cordell was out all night looking for Everett but couldn’t find him. Isom tells Big Charles to go outside to talk to Cordell.

Outside, Cordell tells Big Charles that the fight with Everett reminded him of when he told his sons, Antwone and Jared, that he was leaving their mom. Cordell says his life was turned upside down by meeting Dwayne and wonders whether the whole relationship has been a mistake. Cordell remembers going to see Dwayne sing not long after they first met.
