Summary

In Chapter 22, Glory sprays venom on one guard and fights another. That guard falls away when Kinkajou sprays him with venom. She apologizes, “that looks like it hurts so much” (162). Glory introduces herself and begins to work out how to escape. When more guards arrive, Kinkajou misdirects them. Glory threatens one of the guards, saying he must carry her over the lava. Deathbringer says he has “a better offer” (164).

In Chapter 23, Clay arrives and stops the bickering between Glory and Deathbringer. Deathbringer told Clay about Glory's plan and came to rescue her. Glory cannot fly because of the metal bands, and Clay prepares to carry her. Her first instinct is to say she does not need help, but she knows she does.
