Summary

In “Chapter 10,” LaShawn is called to the principal’s office and questioned about his shoes. After he is released back into the halls, a white boy named Dustin Cavanaugh makes a comment to him about how looting is cool. LaShawn loses his temper and calls Dustin an “asshole.” Dustin calls LaShawn a thief. LaShawn punches Dustin and is taken back to the principal’s office and is suspended. All the Black kids hold a protest after school because LaShawn was suspended. Ashley feels guilty about starting the rumor, but she does not want to join the protest either.
