Julia

Julia is the main character and narrator of this novel. In the beginning of the novel, she is a 10-year-old girl. She has her 11th birthday during the course of the novel. Julia is in the sixth grade. During the course of the novel, Julia is struggling with both the beginnings of adolescence as well as the changes in the Earth as a result of the slowing. In the beginning of the novel, Julia is best friends with Hanna, a Mormon girl whose family moves to Utah. Julia is lonely without Hanna.
