Chapters 33 and 34 Summary

In Chapter 33, it rains the day of Julia's grandfather's funeral. Seth is sick for weeks after the sunburn incident. Doctors are unsure of the cause of his illness. In May, earthquakes begin on a nearly daily basis. The last day of school that year seems somber as if students are afraid they will not return to school again. All the students seem more nostalgic than usual. Even Hanna insists on signing Julia's yearbook. After school is finished, Hanna and her family go back to Utah.

Seth and Julia keep track of that summer's solar storms.
