Point of View

The novel is written entirely from the third person point of view, but it follows the narrative of all three main characters. Because it is written in the third person, no one person’s perspective is prized above others, and no one’s perspective is given more time or space than another character’s. Rather, each of the main characters is fully developed so that the reader can understand how their perspectives affect each other.

Liz’s story tells about her childhood and why soccer became so important for her. It also explains the sacrifice she made in giving up Q in the name of her daughters’ safety. Once her daughters are born, the reader is given glimpses into the way she transfers her soccer dreams to her daughters.
