Summary

In “Mythology,” Liz Lowe grows up in the safe suburbs of Highland Acres. Her parents frequently forget to leave Tooth Fairy money because they are inebriated, and Liz looks forward to overnight camp. Lenora, Liz’s mother, likes to show off her body at the pool and has no intention of having any additional children even though her husband, John, would like a son. Lenora negatively compares her features to her young daughter’s.

Liz leaves for camp where she discovers soccer which she enjoys for its consistency. When counselors tell her parents how great she is at soccer at the end of camp, Liz feels like she has finally gained her mother’s attention. John is not surprised about her prowess because Liz inherited their genes.
