Chapters 26 and 27 Summary

In Chapter 26, Sarah is wakened rudely by her mother who has Nikolas's poem. Sarah's transgressions against the family code are listed and Dominque accuses Sarah of protecting a killer. Sarah's magic is bound by her mother and Dominique says Sarah has until the following evening to prepare for her trial. Adianna tells Sarah that she'd revealed the situation to Dominique because she'd felt that preferable to allowing Dominique to find out some other way. She then tells Sarah to run away. Sarah says Adianna will be punished for helping her escape but Adianna says that no one except her mother will blame Adianna for helping her sister. Sarah is left alone in her room and knows the only choice left to her is to kill Nikolas. She arrives at Nikolas's house at one minute before midnight.
