Summary

This section starts like all the others, with Asle looking at the intersecting purple and brown lines of the Saint Andrew's Cross painting. As he thinks about the painting, Asle considers his retirement from painting.

In the past, Ales and Asle go on a date. They go to the Beyer Gallery in Bjørgvin, where Asle is re-introduced to Beyer years after first meeting him as a boy at his little art show at the Barmen Youth Center. As Ales and Asle are at the gallery, a woman with medium-length blonde hair comes in. Ales makes Asle leave the gallery immediately, explaining that seeing the woman made her very upset, because she looked at Asle like she was deeply in love with him.
