Pineville, New Jersey

Pineville, New Jersey is Jessica's hometown. Pineville is not a really small town, but it's small enough that the majority of the residents know each other. Not much changes in the town. It has relatively remained the same since Jessica was a child. It is a suburban town and the primary setting for the novel.

Columbia

Columbia is the college that Jessica wants to attend. It is in New York City. After Jessica tours the campus with Paul Parlipiano, she decides it is where she belongs. The problem is it will be a bone of contention between Jessica and her parents because they think New York City is dangerous. Eventually, Jessica is accepted to attend Columbia and her parents agree to allow her to make her own decision about going there for college.
