Summary

The Prologue opens in February 2018 with Sally reading that Danny Horst and Annabel Lily are dating. This upsets Sally because Danny is a schlub who she works with, and Annabel is a rich and beautiful celebrity. Danny is a male version of Sally in Sally’s eyes because they are both television writers. Danny And Annabel met when Annabel was a guest on The Night Owl (TNO), the television comedy show both Danny and Sally write for. She decides that she will “turn [her] feelings into comedy” (5).

Chapter 1 begins in April 2018. Sally is at a pitch meeting with many TNO employees including the executive producer, Nigel Petersen. Noah Brewster is a musician and will be both the guest star and the musical guest for that week which is uncommon. Sally has been working at TNO for nine years, and she pitches a skit...
