Summary

April holds numerous surprises. One of the surprises is that Mr. Rossetti and Grandma have become good friends, and the Cruz girls call him Grandpa. He corrects people when they call them Mexican by explaining that they were born in America, and they do not correct him about Mari. Another surprise is that Mrs. Cruz is coming home. Mr. Cruz asks the Paquette family for ransom money that they cannot provide. Mrs. Cruz is being held by some coyotes. Connie wants to call Homeland Security. Mari is the only one of the girls who knows what is going on because she has to translate for the adults. Tyler wonders if they can raise the money, but it is not possible. Grandma asks Mr. Rossetti for a loan of the money, and he disapproves of the whole situation. He calls Grandma a dreamer...
