Chapter 24, Customers Summary

After arriving in Ireland, Popov contacts Sean Grady, IRA leader. The two meet at a safe house, discussing first the deteriorated state of the IRA. Popov ultimately broaches the subject of the mission at hand. He tells Grady about Rainbow, the new counter-terrorism team based at Hereford. This unit is a threat to his employer's operation, so he wants them taken out. The wife and daughter of the group's leader both work at the local hospital in Hereford. The women could be taken hostage and used as bait to draw the Rainbow team out. Grady realizes the inherent risk involved and agrees to do the job for $6 million and a large amount of cocaine—a way to make money in keeping their cause alive. Grady will have his plan complete in two weeks.
