Summary

In Part One, Scene Seven, Tessa calls her friend Mia and talks about Julian. Mia says it sounds like Tessa is “falling for him” (44) and Tessa doesn’t disagree. Leaving work, Tessa bumps into a QC who tells her he is very impressed with her work and offers her a tenancy at his chambers, something that would be a big step up for Tessa, although it will mean more work and more pressure. She tells him she’ll consider it.

She meets up with Julian. They drink a lot of sake at a Japanese restaurant, then leave to get some gelato. They buy some wine and go back to Tessa’s flat. At the flat, they talk and continue to drink heavily. They have consensual sex. Later, Tessa suddenly feels unwell, runs to the bathroom and throws up. Julian comes into the bathroom and...
