Tina asks Mia if she is nervous about their big debut tonight. Mia says no, but Tina says she is. Tina asks if Mia's heard from Michael. When Mia says no, Tina says it's probably because he's going to surprise her tonight after the performance.

When Mia goes into the cafeteria, she sees Lilly there at her booth selling the magazines. Mia buys a copy for five dollars. The principal and coach come into the cafeteria and confiscate the magazines. Tina says it's because one of the short stories Lilly wrote is NC-17. Tina also suggests that Lilly published Mia's story because she likes JP and Lilly wanted JP to get mad at Mia.
